Submitted by Kathi Warm
Board trustees present: Natanya Watkinson, H. N. Bitter, Kathleen Warm, Dennis Leff. Absent: Tyeanna Johnson.
Board meeting called to order at 9:35 am by Natanya.
Items discussed
Movie night-That would be decided by the new board. Problem would be getting volunteers to run the projector and sell concessions.
FCD inventory-Dennis showed the inventory list that was taken in the FCD room, but it was old. A new one needs to be updated. All the committee chairs are full.
Community Council Meeting
The meeting was called to order by Natanya at 10:02 am. There were 12 members present and 1 guest.
lnvocation-H.N. gave the invocation with Pledge of Allegiance following.
Correspondence-None.
December minutes-Approved via email and posted on our website.
Treasurer's report-Balances of Community Council and Fort Clark Days were read. Tyeanna has them posted on our website. It was noted that the movie fee for December should be lower as the movie was inside. Natanya will check into this.
OLD BUSINESS
FCS Candidate Forum-Rules and regulations were read. H.N. will be accepting written request. Kathi and Helena will make sure that only FCS members are allowed. The forum will follow our very short meeting at 10:00 am on Feb. 12 in the Post Theater. Allison will be the moderator. There are three candidates running for the 2 positions. Chris Race, Robert Mumme, and Lisa Vale. Linda O'Brien will check with maintenance to have them check the heating system the Friday before so the theater will be warm Saturday.
Annual audit-Natanya read the report and we are found to be solvent and our record keeping was within the required guidelines.
FCD Update-funding raising is still going on. Funds are slow coming in, but we are making progress. All committee chairs are filled. Marsha Kaufmann will head the lady's tea Fri. It will be held in the Palisado building at 3:00 pm and only women are invited to this high tea. Dennis Leff reported that he has over 50 volunteers. We are expecting camels to return, the canons, the Lipan dancers, and the living historians. The next meeting is Wed. Jan. 19 at the adult center.
Membership Comments
A very lengthy discussion about starting a community vegetable garden. There are many people here that would like to raise chickens and rabbits as many people are food conscious on where their food comes from. An interest in spinning wool to make clothing, learning how to properly clean fish, canning produce, and more. What animals would be allowed? Where would this garden be? It was mentioned that the area near recycling could be used. Perhaps this topic could be addressed to Alan Peterson who already is aware of the interest.
Commissary and windlass. Parts were found and the Historical Society and Preservation Committee are working together to get it working before Fort Clark Days.
NEW BUSINESS
Nominating committee-Dennis gave a report about who the nominees were for the President position and the Treasurer position. Helena McBride volunteered to fill the President position and Frances Bitter volunteered to fill the Treasurer position. Nominees were open to the floor and no new nominees came forward. H. N. motioned to accept the two nominees, seconded by Natanya. Kathi gave the oath and both were sworn in for their 2-year term. Natanya stepped down and Helena presided over the rest of the meeting. Helena gave short speech about her past involvement with Community Council.
Next meeting February 12, 2022 at 10:00 am at the Post Theater. There being no further business, meeting adjourned at 11:55 am.
Respectfully Submitted,
Kathi Warm, Secretary
