Meeting Minutes June 10, 2023 Submitted by Marcia Coffman
Meeting called to order at 10:00 a.m. by Barbara McFadden.
April minutes were approved. There was no meeting in May due to power outage and lack of quorum.
Treasurer’s Report:
There is $14,717.06 in the Community Council account at the end of May. Of that, $10,020 is in reserve for the Recycle Center bailer and $2000 is in reserve for remodeling Commissary bathrooms. H. N. moved to accept the Treasurer’s Report, Marcia seconded. Motion passed.
Memorandum of agreement was given to the Fort Clark Springs Association Board of Directors, and we are still waiting on a decision.
Fort Clark Days committee will have its first meeting September 6th 2023 at 6:00 p.m. in the Boardroom.
New Business:
A new eclipse committee was formed to do damage control with traffic during the eclipse. We cannot stop people from coming. Christina Bitter explained things that had been discussed. Henry Garcia predicts 8000 people. The slogan is “In the Dark at Fort Clark 2024”. Frances moved that Community Council form an official eclipse committee under Community Council, H.N. 2nd, motion passed. Eclipse Committee will be June 21 at 6 p.m. in Boardroom.
There will be a Annular Eclipse in October and the 100th anniversary of Texas State Parks. Barbara suggested that eclipse be part of the Eclipse Committee.
Eclipse glasses have already been ordered for schools and Fort Clark. BISD will reimburse Community Council for their glasses.
Persistent problem with the stripes on Fort Clark Road was discussed. Barbara will bring up at next board meeting in 2 weeks.
Next Community Council Meeting will be in September.
